Iliana Scheggia is a visual artist born in Lima in 1972. In 2004, she got her degree in Fine Arts from the Corriente Alterna School of Fine Arts, receiving the gold medal of her graduating class. She furthered her academic training by graduating as a ceramist from the Sonia Céspedes Rossel School in Lima in 2021. Additionally, she completed a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts through the complementary bachelor's program at the National University of San Marcos. She has also undertaken the Art Therapy Diploma at the Women's University of the Sacred Heart and the Education Diploma at the Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University. Furthermore, she completed a course in sculpture, installation, new media, and 3D printing in ceramics at the School of Visual Arts in New York, USA.

 

In 2021, she was awarded the sculpture prize in the XXII IPAE Contest. Also, in 2010, she received the award for the creation of sculptures in public spaces from Peter & Adriana Hobart.

Her artistic career has been highlighted through eleven solo exhibitions, including "Walkabout - New London" at the Expressiones Cultural Center in New London, CT, USA, in 2023; "Progression" at Espacio Lavadero in Granada, Spain, in 2022; and "Des-Pliegues" at La Galería in Lima, Peru, in 2021, to name a few.

Scheggia has also participated in collective exhibitions such as "Memoria Escindida - Arqueología de una posmodernidad en ruinas" with X-Change Art Project in Lima, Peru, in 2019; "Ocultos Aparentes" at Zapadores Ciudad de las Artes/ARCO in Madrid, Spain, in 2019; and "MadreTierra: Del patrimonio industrial al cuerpo escultórico" at the PetroPerú Cultural Center in San Isidro, Lima, Peru, in 2019, among others.

Moreover, she has been part of Artist In Residence programs since 2012 in various locations, including Hangar & EuroAtlas, Lisbon, Portugal; Vermont Studio Center, Vermont, USA; Sculpture Space, Utica, New York, USA; Atelier 2005, Amstelveen, Netherlands; SIM Residence, Reykjavik, Iceland, and participated in the XII Macsabal Silk Road Symposium at Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts, Ankara, Turkey, in 2022.

Her work is part of private and public collections both in Peru and abroad, including pieces like "Embryo" in Amstelveen, Netherlands; "Moebius" in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA, and "Gyroscope" in San Miguel, Lima, Peru.

Iliana Scheggia es una artista visual nacida en Lima en 1972. En 2004, obtuvo su título en Artes Plásticas en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Corriente Alterna, siendo galardonada con la medalla de oro de su promoción. Complementó su formación académica al graduarse de ceramista en la escuela Sonia Céspedes Rossel de Lima en 2021. Asimismo, ha completado un bachillerato en Artes Plásticas a través del programa de bachillerato complementario de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Además, ha cursado el Diplomado de Terapia a Través del Arte en la Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón, así como el Diplomado de Educación en la Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya. Además, ha realizado un curso de escultura, instalación, nuevos medios e impresión 3D en cerámica en la School of Visual Arts de Nueva York, EE. UU.

En 2021, se hizo merecedora del premio de escultura en el XXII Concurso IPAE. Además, en 2010, fue galardonada con el concurso para la creación de esculturas en espacios públicos Peter & Adriana Hobart.

Su carrera artística se ha destacado a través de once exposiciones individuales, entre las que se incluyen "Walkabout - New London" en el Expressiones Cultural Center de New London, CT, EE. UU., en 2023; "Progresión" en el Espacio Lavadero de Granada, España, en 2022; y "Des-Pliegues" en La Galería de Lima, Perú, en 2021, por mencionar algunas.
